Estimator/Project Manager – Machining
The primary responsibility of the Estimator/Project Manager is to estimate and manage machining work for our customers. You will need to make sure that the jobs are accomplished within the prescribed time frame, budgetary limitations, and quality standards; specifically, the Project Manager will review the customer’s prints and specifications to determine the feasibility of doing the work; negotiates with the customer to finalize the project’s cost and schedule to estimate the job ; requisitions materials and develops a work plan; monitors the status of the project and communicates with the customer, informing him of any changes or requesting additional information; confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems; coordinates production activities with inspectors, owner, and others; prepares reports, maintains documentation file, and reviews all relevant paperwork prior to invoicing; assists in the resolution of outstanding issues.
Requirements:
- Thorough knowledge of the company’s machine shop capabilities, including fabrication and installation processes, materials and equipment used, and all quality standards maintained in the completion of the work
- Ability to handle multiple demands, while keeping a positive, results-focused attitude toward customers, other contractors and subcontractors, and company personnel
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and procedures; understanding coating/steel fabrication operations; and conceptualizing each customer’s expectations
- Communication skills, both oral and written, that are clear and effective; able to interact in a manner that establishes and promotes effective relationships internal and external to the company
- Strong math background, including basic statistics and estimating; computer experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and CAD programs
- Prior experience as a machinist is extremely helpful
